Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to sign my child up?

New members are required to attend an orientation with their parent or guardian before joining. The orientation takes approximately 30 minutes. After the orienation you can sign your child up by completing our 1 page application and paying a $10 fee. This application takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. Meridian Club orientations are on Wednesday's starting at 5:30. Moseley Center orientations are on Monday's at 5:45.

How much is a membership and what does it pay for?

Memberships are $10 and provide access to both of our Clubs and their activities. Our School Year Membership is valid from August 31, 2009 through June 28, 2010. Summer Memberships are valid from June 8, 2009 through August 26, 2009. Membership fees cover our normal club hours (usually 3-8). A general membership does not cover Breakfast Club, field trips, or transportation. For details on these services call the Club in your area.

Who can be a member?

Any child from 1st grade through 18 years old. Boys & Girls Club members represent youth from all races, religions, and economic backgrounds. Our diversity allows all children to participate and grow without judgement.

When do memberships expire?

All current memberships including new signups will be valid until May 29, 2009.

What are the Club's hours?

The club is open on school days from 3-8. We observe local school calendars for early release days and school closures. Early release days we are open from 1-7 and on days of school closure from 11-6. When school is closed we also offer a Breakfast Club for $5 that allows members to come in as early as 7 a.m. The clubs have limited holiday and training closures. Do you provide transportation?

Transportation is now available for a fee from select schools. The include Hillside Junior High, Lowell Elementary, Taft Elementary, Koelsch Elementary, Linder Elementary, Chapperal Elementary and Compass Charter School. The fee is $60 per week or $30 per week for student who participate in their schools free/reduced lunch program. For more information call or visit the Club nearest you.

Are you still providing dinners?

We are sad to announce that the Boys & Girls Club will be unable to continue offering dinners to members starting in January, 2009.  We will continue to offer a free snack daily and free lunches on no school days.

We initially received funds to support this program, however since those funds have been depleted, we are unable to continue to cover the substantial costs of a dinner program.  We are currently looking into a way to re-introduce dinners for the 2009-2010 school year, and are hopeful we will be able to bring dinners back as we know they are much appreciated by our members.

If you have any questions regarding the nutrition program or the cessation of dinner services, please contact:  Jason Sears, Director of Operations at 639-3164.
